A guest bath finished the year after a master suite addition, built around a freestanding tub and a lighter, more open palette.

Having finished a master suite addition for this family the previous year, we came back to deal with the guest bath. The brief was for something lighter and more contemporary than the rest of the floor, without losing the warmth that makes a guest actually want to use the room.

The freestanding tub does most of the work. Pairing it with a handheld showerhead means the room still functions as a shower for guests who want one, rather than becoming a bathroom that only looks good. A tower cabinet was built into the middle of the vanity run to claw back the storage a floating vanity normally costs you, with framed mirrors either side of it.

The countertop is quartz with rectangular undermount bowls, and lifting the cabinetry off the floor keeps the tile running underneath so the room reads larger than its footprint.
